Installing WordPress using Softaculous in cPanel is a straightforward process. Softaculous is a one-click application installer that simplifies the installation of many web applications, including WordPress.

Here are the steps to install WordPress via Softaculous in cPanel:

1. Log in to Your cPanel Account

Login to cPanel of your hosting account.

Visit http://yourdomain.com/cpanel

Use your cPanel username and password to log in.

2. Navigate to Softaculous Apps Installer

Once logged in, look for the Softaculous Apps Installer section in your cPanel dashboard. It’s usually located under the Software or Applications section.

  • The icon is often labeled Softaculous Apps Installer.
  • You may also see an option called WordPress Manager or 1-Click Installs.

Click on the Softaculous Apps Installer icon.

3. Search for WordPress

In the Softaculous interface, you will see a search bar or a list of popular apps. Type "WordPress" in the search bar or look for the WordPress icon in the list.

  • WordPress will typically be featured on the homepage of Softaculous.

Click on the WordPress icon.

4. Click on the “Install Now” Button

After clicking the WordPress icon, you will be taken to the installation page. Click the Install Now button to begin the installation process.

5. Fill in Installation Details

Now, you will need to fill in some basic information for your WordPress installation. Here's what you need to do:

  • Choose the Installation URL Protocol: Choose between `http://` or `https://` (if your site has an SSL certificate, make sure to select `https://`).
  • Domain: Select the domain where you want to install WordPress from the dropdown list. You can also install it in a subdirectory (e.g., `yourdomain.com/blog`), but this is optional.
  • Directory: Leave this field empty if you want to install WordPress in the root directory (i.e., `yourdomain.com`). If you want to install it in a subfolder, like `yourdomain.com/blog`, then type `blog` here.

Site Settings

  • Site Name: Enter the name of your website (e.g., "My Awesome Website").
  • Site Description: Enter a brief description of your website (e.g., "A blog about technology").
  • Enable Multisite (WPMU): Leave this unchecked unless you’re planning to use WordPress Multisite.

Admin Account Settings

  • Admin Username: Set the username for your WordPress admin account. It’s recommended to choose a unique and strong username (avoid "admin").
  • Admin Password: Set a strong password for your WordPress admin account.
  • Admin Email: Enter your email address here. This will be used for admin notifications.

Select Language

  • Choose the language you want your WordPress installation to be in (e.g., English, Spanish, etc.).

Select Plugins (Optional)

Softaculous may offer some default plugins or themes for WordPress. You can leave these settings as is, or you can choose to install certain plugins and themes at this stage. You can always install more plugins later from the WordPress admin panel.

Advanced Options (Optional)

  • You can choose to change the database name, database user, and other advanced settings. Typically, the default settings are fine for most users.
  • You can also enable automatic backups or auto-updates.

6. Click the Install Button

Once you’ve filled in the necessary fields, click the **Install** button at the bottom of the page. Softaculous will begin the installation process.

7. Wait for the Installation to Complete

The installation process usually takes just a few seconds to a couple of minutes. Softaculous will show a progress bar, and once the installation is complete, you will see a success message.

8. Access Your WordPress Site

Once the installation is finished, you’ll see a confirmation page with two important links:

  • Admin URL: This is the link to your WordPress dashboard. It will be something like `http://yourdomain.com/wp-admin`.
  • Site URL: This is the link to your live website (e.g., `http://yourdomain.com`)

 9. Login to WordPress Admin Panel

To start managing your WordPress site, click on the **Admin URL** and log in with the admin username and password you created during the installation process.

Additional Notes:

  • SSL Certificate: If you selected `https://` for the protocol, make sure your website has an SSL certificate installed. Most cPanel installations come with an auto-install SSL certificate (via Let’s Encrypt), but it may need to be activated.
  • Security Considerations: After installation, make sure to change your admin username and password from default if you didn't choose strong credentials during installation. Install security plugins (like Wordfence or Sucuri) to help protect your site.

That’s it! You now have WordPress installed and ready to go on your website using Softaculous through cPanel.
